How to save the planet and still have a life

Imagine standing barefoot on a beach, the sand under your feet and between your toes is warm.

You can hear the relentless pounding of the waves on the shore.

That unmistakeable salty scent of the sea plays around your nostrils

You look out in front of you and the light reflects off the surface of the swells, shimmering and shifting.

As the waves begin to break you watch the foaming spray of the white horses racing towards you

You feel the spray gently caress your face and you taste its saltiness on the tip of your tongue as you lick your lips.

You experience the sea with all your senses, you breathe in its power and energy and you are refreshed.

We are inextricably linked to the sea, to our environment. We need to care for and nurture our environment because it has made us who we are.  If we wish to nurture ourselves then we must also nurture and look after our surroundings.

There has been so much talk recently about what we are doing to our environment, to this wonderful planet of our’s. It is so full of wonders and beauty, but we are not taking care of it like we should. I am thinking particularly of our oceans which make up 70% of our planet. Only about 5% of them has ever been explored so we still need to learn a great deal about them. What we do know though is that we are seriously polluting them.
